Altered Beast Codes:
Enter all codes at the Title Screen:
Press B and Start - Level Select
Hold A and hit Select after a Game Over - Continue Where you left off
Hold A + B + C + Down/Left and then hit Start - Beast Select
Hold A + C + Up/Right and then hit Start - Sound Test
Golden Axe Level Select:
Press 'Select', go to 'Control Setup', and make sure the game is in ABC Mode. At the title screen highlight
'Arcade'. Now hit and hold Down/Left + B. Continue holding the buttons at the character
select screen, and hit Start. A number should appear in the upper left hand corner of the screen.
Press up or down to select your level.
Phantasy Star IV Sound Test:
To unlock the sound test, beat the game. Then, at the title screen, hit B [or whatever button you
have mapped as B]. A menu will pop up, and you can listen to all the music in the game.
Ristar Passwords:
As you can see, most of the codes works in Japanese version only:
MIEMIE - 'Hidden items' grab points are shown with a blue star.
AAAAAA - No continue limit [JP].
MAGURO - Onchi Music mode and credit's music in sound test.
CANDY - Invincibility [JP].
MACCHA - Mentions Miyake colour [JP].
XXXXXX - Clears/Deactivates the current password.
AGES - Copyright info is displayed.
FEEL - Activate ILOVEU, MIEMIE and CANDY cheats all at once [JP].
MASTER - Mentions next game [JP].
STAR - A shooting star goes across the background. [JP]
MUSEUM - Boss Rush Mode.
VALDI - Shows the Solar System [JP].
ILOVEU - Stage Select.
HETAP - Reverses the High Score in Demo Mode [JP].
SUPERB - Super Difficulty Mode.
DOFEEL - Time Attack Mode.
Golden Axe 2 Level Select:
Press 'Select', go to 'Control Setup', and make sure the game is in ABC Mode. At the title screen highlight
'Options'. Now hit & hold A+B+C. In the options screen continue holding A, release
only B & C. Configure the game however you like. Now only hit the B button to confirm all
choices until you have selected your character. [don't forget to continue holding A the entire time]
Once you have selected your character a number should appear on screen allowing you to select your
level.
Hints: Unlock Tac-Scan:
To unlock Sega's arcade game Tac-Scan, make it to the bonus stage in the first level of Ristar.
Hints: Play the Arcade Version of Zaxxon:
To unlock this classic arcade shooter, go play sonic the hedgehog and collect one chaos emerald.
To collect a chaos emerald, you have to collect 50 rings during the course of a stage and then jump through
the giant ring at the end. Once inside, you'll be able to collect the emerald and unlock this
classic!
