Hints: Saving the reporters from Mysterio:
When you start the level, you are on the top of the
Daily Bugle. Charge your jump and sprint towards the destination
marker and begin swinging. When Spider-Man says 'The conference
is starting, I'm going to be late', you should be near a
black building with green lights behind it. The green lights are
the conference hall. Sprint through the center of this building
and start swinging to the right. The entrance is on the right
hand side. Sprint into the building and directly to the stairs.
Sprint up the right-hand side to the top floor and in the second
door on your left. Note: Jumping up floors saves a few seconds,
but do not wait to charge your jump. When you enter the room,
there will be an intermission sequence of Spiderman meeting Mysterio,
and two reporters hanging from the balconies. Save the one on
the right first, since he is closest to falling. When you pull
him to you by hiting Triangle, charge your jump and sprint
towards the balcony that you came in on. When you reach the edge
of the balcony, release Jump. The jump alone will not get
you there. When you start to fall, cast a web and swing onto the
balcony. Press Triangle to put the reporter down. Repeat
this for the reporter on the left. When you have safely rescued
the two falling reporters, go back to the balcony on the right.
There should be another reporter on that balcony. Repeat the steps
for saving the falling reporters. Swing down to the stage and
fight off some of Mysterio's alien flyers Note: Your web attacks
will not have any effect on the flyers, however your normal attacks
will. Grab one of the reporters and charge a jump. When your jump
is fully charged, jump straight up. When at your full height,
cast a web and wait for it to stop swinging. Repeat this until
at maximum height. Start swinging towards one of the two balconies
that the reporters were on. If you are not high enough, charge
a jump and release. Repeat this for the other two reporters, then
finish of the flyers. An intermission sequence will start, and
you will have completed the level.
Hints: Defeating Calypso:
This is only applicable if you have already purchased
the Fight Arena and unlocked the Boss Battle mode. Calypso is,
perhaps one of the most annoying bosses Ever, and defeating her
is not much more than a chore. The best strategy is to chase after
her if desired, but you will find she teleports away soon after
you hit her, or before the first hit. The trick is to find the
magic staff that is randomly located throughout the arena, and
punch it so that it stops gyrating. Once you see that it is standing
still, race over to Calypso. You will noticed that she is tired
and cannot move. Take as many hits on her as possible until she
regains her strength and teleports away.
Hints: Twin Towers location:
The very accurately New York City. It is actually possible
to find the lights pointed to the sky that replaced the Twin Towers.
It is located on the southwestern side of the city near the coast.
It will be found in a big space on the map, and its a lot easier
to see at night when the lights are on.
The memorial lights representing the Twin Towers can be easily
found by using the map and swinging to the Financial District.
Look for a large open space, which is Ground Zero.
Hints: Neck Throw:
This attack will knock back an enemy, Press 'Web',
Attack, 'Grab'. Spidey will do the yank kick, then
grab them by the neck and jump, flip, then throw them.
Hints: Defeating Bosses:
When facing the Rhino or other Bosses, hit Up
to make everything slow down except yourself. This move also allows
you to punch and hit much more effectively.
Hints: Hang a thug on a streetlight:
If you are in a street fight and need to hang up thugs
for a little while, hit Squarex2, Triangle, Circle
at a thug . This will hang him up onto a lamp post. You have to
make sure that you are near a lamppost in the first place.
First, get your opponent webbed up very well. Then, get your opponent
into a grapple [for example, Triangle + Square].
Once this has been done, move the D-Pad or Left Analog-stick
Left to Right while holding Triangle. Doing
this causes Spider-Man to toss his opponent back and forth over
his head into the ground or another nearby object. After you feel
you have beaten them a decent amount, hit Square. Do
not let your opponent go free from Spider-Man's grapple hold.
Doing this causes Spider-Man to jump up and tie them up to an
object. Note: This trick will only work if you are near a lamppost,
traffic light, etc.
To hang a thug on a street light and get credit for it in the
game stats menu, they must be unconscious. After you defeat an
enemy, go to their unconscious body and quickly hit Squarex2,
Triangle, X to execute the Web Hanger combo. This
will punch the thug twice, web them up, and slam them. Then, jump
up to the nearest streetlight and hang them upside down. Note:
The Web Hanger combo is an upgrade that must be purchased during
or after Chapter 11, and costs 2,500 Hero Points.
Hints: Easier Completion of timed missions:
Purchase the level 8 upgrade to your Swing Speed [after
completing Chapter 16] before doing the Pizza Deliveries, Mary
Jane, and Daily Bugle Photo missions. The first few missions are
easy, but they will get progressively more difficult as you will
have to go farther with less time available. Having your Swing
Speed fully upgraded to level 8 will make them easier, although
the final missions will still be a challenge.
Hints: Spider-Man: The Movie references:
Certain building can be referenced to the first
Spider-Man game. For example, the skyscraper where you have the
final fight with the Vulture in the first game can also be found
in the second game. The bridge where you fought the Green Goblin
can also be found in the game, but you cannot pass about halfway
on it to the next city. Also, the bridge that the Green Goblin
tries to blow-up and you must save is also in this game.
Between Midtown and Gramercy is a building with a green point
at the end of it. It is the second tallest building right after
the Empire State Building. If you there, on top you will see feathers
from the previous game, when you fought Vulture.
Near Time Square there is a billboard that reads 'CHAOS Skywriting
Service'. This is a reference to the first game, where if
you moved the camera around you would see the word 'CHAOS'
written in the sky.
Hints: Interesting kills:
Get to a rooftop [preferably at the Statue Of Liberty].
This is useful at heliports or rooftop robberies. Stun an enemy
with a Web Blast then reel them in with the move bought at the
Spidey Store. Then, throw them off.
When on the ground, stun an enemy with a Web Blast then reel them
in with the move bought at the Spidey Store. Find a barrier separating
land from water, such as the one by the pizza parlor. Then, throw
him from a short distance. If done correctly, you should hear
their head hit the barrier and they will tumble in.
Stun all enemies, disarm them all, reel one in, and throw him
at the others. Also, try swinging, etc. to see how many you can
get in one shot. .
Hints: Avoiding bad cop aim:
When the cops need your help and are being fired at,
they will fire at you instead of the bad guys. Do more Spider
Sense mode to dodge.
Hints: Easy Hideout Tokens:
On your map in the lower right hand corner, locate
all the buildings with a pink top. This is where you can enter
and get your goodies. Some are a little difficult to find -- be
alert.
Hints: Following Black Cat:
In the missions where you have to follow Black Cat,
try not to swing from building to building because you will not
be very accurate and fall too far behind. Instead, try flinging
yourself from building to building. To do this, hold the X
[Jump] and when it is fully charged, also hold L2 [Turbo].
Then, still holding L2 + X, run to the edge of the
building and release X, but continue to hold L2.
This will fling Spider-Man farther than just jumping, and is much
more accurate than swinging. Also, if you are just about to land
on a building, but are slightly short of making it to the top,
try using the zip line [L2, R2] when you can still
see the top of the building. Note: You must buy the zip line first.
It should attach to the top and zip you over.
Hints: Free fall:
In order to free fall you must first be on top of a
building. Just run or walk off and you should form a diving position.
If you were high enough, the game should shake and you can see
the speed. You can do this with the construction worker that you
were supposed to 'save' from falling off of the building,
but when you land you will just roll and the construction worker
will not be affected. Note: Sometime when you free fall you will
lose health if you hit the ground head on.
Hints: Continue beating:
After defeating a criminal after a crime, you can keep
beating on him until you leave.
Hints: Sports arena posters:
When you face off against Beck in the sports arena
[Madison Square Garden], there are several posters around. They
all have something to do with Quentin Beck. One of them reads
'Radio Active Cop', one of Beck's movies, 'The
Amazing Me', Quentin Beck's Biography, and on the top seats
of the arena are posters that read, Hero 'Quentin Beck'
Real, and the last one reads, 'Quentin Beck: Crime Fighter'.
There is also one that reads, 'Super Hero Challenge'.
Hints: Hint Marker comment:
One of the Hint Markers in the city will tell you 'When
you manage to hit all the Hint Makers they will all say something
different'. Once you hit all the Hint Markers they will all
literally say 'Something different'.
Hints: Big drop:
In order to get a big drop larger than that from the
Empire State Building, become skilled with the mid-air fight.
When in a fight with any ordinary thug, begin yanking him into
the air, hitting him then bouncing up into the air even higher
then before. Repeat this technique even after the thug has been
defeated. Once you have gotten as high as you would like, fall
back down zip lining at the last possible moment. The drop will
not count if you die. You will be surprised how high you can get
with practice. Note: There is a limit, and if you go too high
the game will glitch -- you will see a loading screen and you
will appear out of one of the bodies of water.
Mart:
When you are fighting Mysterio at the Speedy Mart,
the battle is very short. Just punch him a few times to defeat
him and prepare yourself to reveal Mysterio's true identity.
When fighting Mysterio at the Speedy Mart, simply execute a Sprinting
Uppercut [L2 + Square]. This will knock off his
head piece to reveal who he really is.
To defeat Mysterio at the Speedy Mart, just hit him once.
Hints: Defeating Mysterio at the Statue
Hints: Art references:
During Chapter 3, after meeting with Mary Jane and
seeing burglars, run into the art museum and defeat them. An intermission
sequence showing two or three of them unconscious at a time will
begin. Each villain is laying in a pose of actual famous art.
For example, the last two burglars are in the same pose as Adam
and God in Michelangelo's 'Last Judgement' from the
Sistine Chapel ceiling.
Liberty:
First, attach to one of Mysterio's 'UFOs'
and it will fly you high up. Jump off and Websling around until
you are close enough to an Orb to Webzip toward it. Once there,
you will remain floating. Just use a simple punch attack to destroy
it.
Hints: Defeating armored power suits:
If you defeat the power suits the first time sometimes
people will tell you that they are attacking random people. If
there are two or more, do not worry. First, attack the one that
is in the way of another power suit's fire. If your health is
low, at least one purple crime is going on go to it and beat it.
If it is a mugging, gang war, etc., wrap up everybody in webbing.
Grab one person and swing to a tall building. It does not have
to be that tall. Swing, turbo, charge jump, and release X
at the top of the jump. Turn and repeat until you get to the top.
Repeat and when all opponents are defeated, you will get Hero
Points and health. Go back and fight them by using the same tactic.
Until there is one remaining, stay behind him and attack him.
When you defeat them all, you will get 500 Hero Points and health.
If you find yourself low in health when fighting the power suits,
find a quick thug fight or store to charge up your health. Also,
if you lead them just right, they will destroy each other until
there is only one remaining. Then lock on, and stay behind them.
Jump near an armored power suit and hiting Square, X.
Spider-Man will kick off the power suit. You might get hit once
or twice, but it works. Keep moving and do not stand still.
To defeat the power suits, try to pick off everybody one-by-one.
Start in a 'safe' position [the roof of the warehouse
and outside of the walls that surround the place work well.] Run
around in your safe position or jump on the ground and try to
get one suit or a human to chase you. Lead them into the alley
in-between the warehouse and the wall. If you are picking off
a human, use your impact webbing [hold L1 hit Triangle]
then grapple him [Triangle + Circle]. Once you are
holding him, jump back into your safe position and defeat him.
Repeat this. It is recommended that you pick off the humans first
because they are faster and easier to take care of. For power
suits, try to get them stuck in the alley and destroy them before
another suit can rescue them.
Hints: A Clockwork Orange reference:
When confronting a group of thugs, sometimes one
will shout 'Time for a little of the old Ultra Violence',
which was a line from the movie A Clockwork Orange.
Of Mirrors:
Go up to a mirror and punch it three times as the clone
is coming out. Then, beat the clone up. Using a Web Ball [L2
+ Triangle] works well. Be very careful to only approach
one mirror at a time, as the Spider-Man clones that appear are
very difficult to defeat if there are too many. Repeat this until
you find the door that you can use to exit.
Approach a mirror and break the glass as the twisted reflection
comes out. Continue breaking mirrors until you see a beam come
from the broken mirror to the ceiling. Once you find a beam, break
every third mirror to find all the beams. When all beams are showing,
the exit will be revealed.
When in the fun house on Mysterio's level, at the mirrors walk
around the room until you get about four clones out. No more can
now appear. Run around and break all of the mirrors. Then, defeat
the four clones.
A simple way to find an exit is to skip busting up all the mirrors,
and instead wait until you find one that emits a ray of energy
into the middle of the room. Once you have found this one, skip
every other two and break the third one from it. This way, you
will fight less clones and find the door faster.
In the third stage of the second meeting of Mysterio, you will
find yourself in a room full of mirrors. Quickly punch the mirrors
as soon as possible. If you are not fast enough, clones of yourself
will come out of the mirrors. It may help if the 'Super Punch'
has been unlocked, which will break the mirrors on the first hit.
You can also hit Up to slow down the game. The eyeball
on the floor moves around, which can only be attacked by your
Spidey clones when the eyeball is under you; move as quickly as
possible.
Hints: Web hanger:
Another way to web hang an enemy is to first grapple
them [Triangle, Circle]., then use the Multi Web
Hammer [bought from the Spidey Store]. After the last hit, quickly
hit X to hang up the enemy.
Hints: Loop swinging:
To do a loop swing, hit R1 to swing. About
half way through the swing, hold L1. Spider-Man will swing
in a loop over the anchor of his webline. This will work well
with objects such as cranes. You can also do this with a double
web swing. Instead, just hit R1x2, but hold it down
the second time, then hold L1. This move can results in
more jump distance.
Hints: Defeating Rhino:
When Rhino tries to hit you, there will be a flash
above Spider-Man's head. Press Circle when this happens.
When Rhino stops spinning, he will be dizzy. Punch him until he
recovers, then he will charge at you. Jump over him. Do not punch
or web him. If you web him you will get hurt. If you punch him
it will not have any affect because there is metal around his
body.
When fighting Rhino, a flash appears above Spider-Man's head.
Dodge his attacks and when he is dizzy, turn on the spider senses
and hit him. When he recovers, dodge his attacks and repeat the
process.
After you defeat Rhino [when Spider-Man hangs him upside down
from the building], you can jump up and attack him to hear him
say 'That's not fair!!,' along with a few more remarks.
in the air:
Swing in the air but very low. When you touch the ground,
do not let go.
Hints: Reaching the arcade:
Go to Han's Pizzeria [the pizza icon on the map]. Stand
facing the front door and the neon sign [so that you see Spider-Man's
back]. Turn to your left and go down the street past the blue
star icon for Race 95 and continue pst the first intersection.
Go to the second intersection at the end of the grassy area [across
the street is the blue star icon for Race 96]. Stay on the side
with the grassy area, and turn left. Go down the sidewalk with
the grassy area on your left until you reach the T-shaped intersection.
Cross the street and continue going straight, past the white/gray
awnings. On your left side is an alley. In that alley is a storefront
with green-trimmed windows. Go into this alley and you will reach
the entrance to the Arcade. Above the Arcade door is a sign depicting
an old Atari-style controller. Note: The Arcade is a location
used at the very beginning of the game during the tutorial narrated
by Bruce Campbell.
Hints: Getting upgrades:
When you are in need of more moves, fly around the
city and look for buildings with a web-like top on them. Sometimes
the buildings will be very small and are white, which may make
the web almost invisible. There are also different color webs,
which will make the web more visible on your map in the lower
right side of the screen. Inside of one of those stores, you will
see a gold spinning decal which you should 'open up'.
This will bring you to the upgrade screen, where you can spend
your Hero Points to get other attacks and much more.
Hints: Crossing the Brooklyn Bridge:
To get across the Brooklyn Bridge, swing under it,
if you have not defeating Shocker for the final time.
Hints: Fill Style meter faster:
Using the 'Spider Reflexes' ability drains
your Style meter [the blue bar]. You can refill the Style meter
by performing the Air Tricks combos, but they will only add a
little bit to the blue bar each time. To fill the Style meter
faster, avoid hitting buildings while you are swinging around
and doing the Air Tricks. The more Air Tricks you string together
without bumping into buildings, the faster your meter will be
refilled. When you bump into a building while swinging, it stops
the Style meter from being refilled and you have to start another
string of Air Tricks. If you are going too fast and cannot avoid
slamming into a building, try going into a Wall Sprint just as
you make contact with the wall, then leap off the wall into a
swing. If done correctly, you will not break your Air Tricks combo.
At almost any point in the game, if your Style meter is low, hit
Select to check your map. Find the tallest building on
the island, or the tallest building closest to you. Climb up,
jump off, and at the last moment, swing. Note: If you are jumping
from one of the taller buildings and you do not swing, you will
die. Also, if you want a nice ride, find the tallest building,
climb to the top, charge your jump, sprint of the top, and jump
at the last moment. If done correctly, you will get a much longer
jump.
Dodging rapid shots such as those from Doc Ock or the armored
suits from the auction can build up your Hero Meter's much faster
than air tricks.
Hints: Spidey-go-round:
Go to the point where the Twin Towers memorial is located.
Jump up and web until you get attached to the flag pole. Then,
start swinging in a circle while hiting L2 to go faster.
Doing this will make Spidey go in circles faster and faster like
a merry-go-round. This also works with enemies.
Hints: Faster wall running:
When running up a wall and are about to fall, quickly
hit X and hold Circle. You will go faster for
a moment. Keep doing this until you get up the wall.
