BlopFrequently Asked Questions
please read this if you have any questions or doubts

Q: The cheats I am looking for are not available on your site!?
A: We update the site on a daily basis. If the game is brand new, chances are we'll have something for it very soon, so you should continue to check the main page for updates. If it's an older title and you feel that we've overlooked it, you can send us an email with your request and we'll do our best to find it.

Q: The trainer I've just downloaded doesn't work!
A: Trainers must be running simultaneously with the game. Most of them require the following procedure:

  1. Start the game and begin game play.
  2. Press [Alt]+[Tab] to switch to the Windows Desktop, then start the trainer, and select the desired cheat options.
  3. Press [Alt]+[Tab] again to switch back to the game.

Q: I can't seem to get a certain cheat/trainer to work with my game, even though I have followed the instructions exactly. What am I doing wrong?
A: Most of the time, cheats are designed to work only with specific versions of a game. This is most common on PC-based games where several updates are usually released after a game is finished. Sometimes cheats vary between international versions. If a particular cheat is not working for you, this is most likely the cause.

Q: Will my computer get infected by using the cheats?
A: Since trainers are executable programs and often have unknown origins, there is a risk of infection from viruses, and other unforeseen problems... so, please use them WITH CAUTION! All trainers and executables on our site are scanned for viruses, but we cannot guarantee that an author didn't put some new, unknown, variant or anything like that! If you have any doubts - please don't use executable files, and stick to the cheat codes and hints only.

Q: I was asked for a password when tried to unpack trainer from this site?!
A: Some trainers were made using a utility called "Trainer Maker Kit". Few antivirus programs (such as Norton Antivirus, NOD32, AntiVir...) may interpret it as a keylogger virus/trojan. That's why we do not recommend using them unless you're a highly experienced computer user. Furthermore, those files are password-protected. If you're absolutely sure you want to try them, click here for a list of possible passwords.

Q: Do you test all of the cheats you publish?
A: While we would love to have the opportunity to play every game imaginable, this is simply not feasible. If we own the game we receive cheats for, we do test them to make sure they work. If we don't have the game, we post them up and will usually determine very quickly if a cheat has been falsified. Any falsified cheats are removed promptly from the site.

Q: Could you please e-mail some cheats to me?
A: Due to the large volume of visitors that we get to the site, there is no way we can e-mail personal requests to the end-user.

Q: I can't seem to download some of the cheats from your site!
A: If you're having troubles downloading a file from our site, please disable any download managers you use, and try again. If a link is broken, please email us we will try our best to correct the problem.

Q: Your cheat page says that I need to 'start the game using command-line parameters'. How do I do that?
A: To start a game with command line parameters you need to do the following:

  1. Right-click on the game shortcut icon and select 'Properties'.
  2. Add the required parameter at the very end of the 'Target' field. For example, if you need to start the game with ' -console' parameter, target line should look similar to this:

    "C:\Program Files\Game Files\game.exe" -console

Note that the required parameter MUST be located at the very end of the line, outside the quotes (if there are any), and there must be a blank space in front of it!
  3. Click 'Apply' to save changes.
  4. Run the game using the modified shortcut.

Q: What is Hex Editing?
A: This is probably the most difficult cheat to pull off, because advanced computer knowledge is required from a user. Hex editing allows you to directly alter the game files by changing values stored in the original game files. Hex cheats will usually come with a location (also called address or offset) you need to modify and a value you need to put there. In order to edit files this way, you will need to download a hex editor program. ALWAYS make a backup of the file you're going to modify!

Q: What are UHS, GameWizard and UGE files?
A: These cheats are specially designed to work with specific tools:

UHS (Universal Hint System) is a type of cheat that will give you only the hints you need, not revealing the full answer. This method is often used with adventure games. The base program that can open .uhs files can be found on the official site.

UGE (Universal Game Editor) is a DOS based cheating tool that allows uses UGE modules to alter game values (energy, lives, etc.).. A base program is required for this cheating method (you can download it from here).

Gamewizard files contain the info for modifying values in a game (energy, lives, etc.). To use them you need to install a base program. Check out www.gw32.de for more info.

Q: How do I use ActionReply, GameShark, GameGenie, Game Guru codes?
A: These codes require use of the special devices. When you connect these devices to your console they will act much like trainers in the PC world - they write to locations in a console's memory to activate their cheat features.

GameShark codes are not official products and are not endorsed by console manufacturers such as Sega, Sony, or Nintendo. In fact, Nintendo actively places new code routines in their Nintendo 64 cartridges to disable use of a GameShark. In turn, InterAct has developed a keycode system and ROM upgrades to keep their products working.

The Game Genie and Action Replay provide this way to cheat on the Sega Genesis, Sega Game Gear, Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo Game Boy, and Sega Master System.

The Game Guru cheats work with the 3DO Multiplayer console system and allows saved games to be edited, then read back into the game with cheat features activated.

Q: How do I use saved games?
A: Depending on a platform methods are different. In all cases, if the downloaded file iz zipped, you need to unpack it first, and you should always make backup any files you're going to overwrite.

Playstation 3 - create "PS3\SAVEDATA" a folder on a USB Flash memory stick and extract downloaded savegame there. Plug the USB Flash into the console, go into "Save Data" on your XrossMediaBar and press [Triangle] to copy the file to your PS3.

Playstation 2 - depending on a saved game type, you must have CodeBreaker disc (cbs files), Action Max disc (max files) or PS3 (virtual console saves). In any case, please read the documentation that comes with the software.

Sony PSP - connect your PC to the PSP (select the USB connection option) and copy the savegame file to the "SAVEFILE" folder on your PSP.

Nintendo Wii - you need to copy saved game to a (Wii compatible) SD card. The folder in which you should copy the .bin file has "\private\wii\title\GAMECODE\data.bin" format, where the GAMECODE is game-dependent (the list of game codes can be found here: http://www.wiisave.com/gamecodes/). Insert the card in your Wii, go to "Wii Options" > "Data Management" > "Save Data" > "Wii" > "SD card tab", and copy the saved game to the console.

PC - by using plain logic try to find folder on your hard-disk where a game keeps saved data. Start by browsing the game install folder, its subfolders, or My Documents folder.

Q: What can I do if I have found or created a cheat that is not currently posted on your site?
A: You may submit cheats or files using our submit form located on the menu to the left.

Q: What aren't there any cheats for multiplayer games or modes on your site?
A: 1,000 Ways to Cheat does not support or condone the use of cheats in a multiplayer environment. If you have found such cheat on our site, and it is not official, please email us and we will remove it.

Q: I cannot find an answer to a question I am looking for?!
A: Please send us an email and we'll try to help you.
